Caravans and motorhomes have made a significant comeback this year. The insurance brokers have noticed it and there’s no doubt that the caravan parks and travel agents have noticed it as well. It seems that with the economy in the state that it’s in people want to save money and so have decided against expensive holidays abroad and chosen to stay a little closer to home for a fraction of the price.
Figures from the National Caravan Council state that over 1.5 million caravan fans are regularly using a combined total of just over half a million caravans across Britain. As well as this, bookings at the Camping and Caravanning Club have risen by a huge 21% in the last year. So it’s pretty safe to say that caravan manufacturers aren’t complaining about the recession!
All these rises in local holidaying mean that the roads are going to get very busy over the summer and so will take more of a beating, all over the top of the battering they took over the winter. We have all seen the horrid potholes in the road that have appeared since the snow.
There have been times, when out on my bike, I have wondered if I might see a little kangaroo head sticking out from one of those pot holes. I am sure they will be causing damage to cars, caravans and motor caravans. Indeed I wonder whether they will actually cause accidents.
It is not a compulsory thing to have caravan insurance. However while it is optional, it is highly advisable that you take some out, after all, you wouldn’t want to pull any other valuable belonging of yours behind your car or leave it on its own in a park without having insurance for it would you? There are over 30 companies who provide caravan and motorhome insurance and so there is specialist advice out there, it’s just a matter of having the will to look for it. It is advisable to get a broker to help you track down the best deal for your specific needs as it’s good to get advice from a real person and to have your questions answered with no hassle.
If you are after caravan insurance, the best idea is to have a broker secure you the best price possible as many of them have long-standing relationships with the insurance companies and so can get you the caravan insurance for a much cheaper price.
